A dollar across three people
Splitting 1.00 equally between Alex, Blair and Casey gives 0.34, 0.33 and 0.33. The first entry receives the remaining penny because the fractional remainders tie.
Make a payment plan for a group using equal shares, custom weights, or what each person ordered. Shared extras follow the chosen proportions and remaining pennies are allocated explicitly.
Format: Alex | 24.50. Enter each person’s pre-tax item subtotal.
All people use the same currency. Tax and service are entered amounts. The additional tip excludes service charges. Clear amounts keeps your names and split mode.
3 people · additional tip $9.90
| Person | Subtotal | Shared extras | Pays |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alex | $24.50 | $6.37 | $30.87 |
| Blair | $18.00 | $4.68 | $22.68 |
| Casey | $12.50 | $3.25 | $15.75 |
Extras combine tax, service charge and tip. They use the same weights as the subtotal. Remaining pennies follow largest fractional remainders; ties follow entry order.

Choose equal, weighted, or personal-subtotal mode. Enter one person per line; use name | value for weights or item subtotals.
For equal or weighted mode, enter the bill subtotal. In personal-subtotal mode, the item amounts provide that subtotal automatically.
Enter tax and service amounts, then an additional tip percentage and base. Check each payment and copy or download the plan.

Item subtotals of 24.50, 18.00 and 12.50 total 55.00. Add 4.40 tax and an 18% tip on the subtotal (9.90) for a final bill of 69.30. The 14.30 of extras is divided proportionally to those item subtotals.
Equal mode assigns every named person a weight of one. Weighted mode can model shares such as two, one and one. Personal-subtotal mode preserves each person’s entered item total and uses it as their weight for shared tax, service and additional tip.
Each proportional amount is calculated, then rounded down to whole cents. Remaining cents go to the largest fractional remainders; ties follow entry order. Subtotal shares and the combined extras are allocated separately, so the displayed columns and total both reconcile.
Yes, if at least one participant has a positive weight. A zero-weight person pays zero shared charges in this model.
This version uses the same proportions for all shared extras. Adjust a separate agreement outside the tool if the group needs different rules.
No. Inputs represent nonnegative amounts owed. Apply reimbursements separately after the payment plan.
Only when fractional remainders tie. Changing the order can move a remaining penny between otherwise equal shares.
