A short reading

Choose Short: up to 15 verses and generate a chapter. The tool chooses among short complete chapters rather than trimming a longer one.

Choose Psalms in Book and keep no-repeat on. Each new selection is a different psalm until the matching pool is exhausted.

Study one Gospel

Choose New Testament and John. Generate a chapter and copy it with its reference for a reading note.

Translation and canon

The text is the official World English Bible export identified as engwebp, downloaded from eBible.org on October 23, 2026. It contains all 1,189 chapters of the 66-book edition, with 929 Old Testament and 260 New Testament chapters. This edition omits the Deuterocanon/Apocrypha. The translation is in the public domain; World English Bible is a trademark of eBible.org.

Why a complete chapter?

An isolated verse can lose the narrative, argument, or poem around it. This tool always displays the full chapter and preserves the source verse wording and numbering. Chapter boundaries are conventional and do not always coincide with a complete literary unit, so reading adjacent chapters can still be helpful. The plain-text export omits footnotes, section headings, and paragraph formatting. Five verse records have blank text (Luke 17:36; Acts 8:37, 15:34, 24:7; Romans 16:25); the display marks them rather than inventing wording. Copied text preserves these empty source records.

What random means here

Every eligible chapter has equal odds. Books with more chapters therefore contribute more possible results, and the tool is not a uniform random-verse picker. Short means up to 15 verse records, medium means 16–35, and long means 36 or more. No-repeat excludes chapters already selected in this page session without silently resetting when the pool runs out.

What to know

  • 66-book edition only; no Deuterocanon/Apocrypha.
  • Verse wording and numbering are retained; headings, notes, poetry layout, and paragraph structure are not included.

Common questions

Is this the full Bible?

It includes every chapter in the 66-book engwebp edition of the World English Bible. It does not include the Deuterocanon/Apocrypha, translation footnotes, or every canon used by Christian traditions.

Can I copy and reuse the text?

Yes. The World English Bible text is in the public domain. The publisher asks that altered wording not be called the World English Bible. Copying here includes the translation label and chapter reference.

Why are chapter lengths different?

The tool uses the source chapter boundaries and never cuts a chapter to fit a length target. Its length filter counts verse records, not words or minutes.

Does the selection provide personalized guidance?

The selection is random within your filters. It is a reading aid, not an interpretation or a personalized message. Use the whole chapter and wider context when studying a passage.
