How to use the Business Days Calculator

  1. 01

Choose Count business days or Add or subtract business days. For an interval, choose separately whether the start and end count.

  2. 02

Select every nonworking weekday. Saturday and Sunday are a starting example, and can be changed for your schedule.

  3. 03

Enter actual holiday dates as YYYY-MM-DD, separated by lines, spaces, commas, or semicolons. Include observed dates yourself.

  4. 04

Read the working-day result and the exclusions, then copy the summary together with your schedule.

Examples

A custom year-end holiday

From December 24 through December 31, 2026, there are 8 calendar dates. With Saturday and Sunday off and December 25 entered as a holiday, the inclusive total is 5 business days.

Adding excludes the starting date

Add 5 business days to December 24, 2026 with the same schedule and only December 25 excluded. The result is January 1, 2027, because this example does not list January 1 as a holiday. Add that date if it is nonworking for you.

A working calendar is specific to your organization

There is no built-in country holiday list. The calculator cannot infer substitute holidays, regional observances, collective agreements, or office closures. Enter the exact nonworking dates that apply to your task. A Friday–Saturday weekend, a single weekly day off, or a seven-day operation can all be represented through the weekday controls.

Exclusions are counted once

Holiday dates are deduplicated. A listed holiday that falls on an already excluded weekday does not reduce the count again. The interval breakdown separates all nonworking-weekday dates from additional holidays on otherwise working weekdays. Dates outside the interval have no effect. Every holiday entry is validated, so a typo stops the result rather than silently dropping a date.

Counting and adding have different boundaries

Interval mode can include either endpoint, both, or neither; an end before the start is rejected. Addition starts checking the next date, and subtraction checks the previous date. The starting date never consumes a requested business day. A zero shift returns the starting date even if that date is nonworking. This convention avoids an implicit decision about whether the starting workday has already been used.

What to know

  • A day-level scheduling aid; it does not model partial working days, hours, or legal filing rules.

Common questions

Does the calculator know public holidays?

No. Enter your own complete set of applicable dates, including observed dates when appropriate. The default holiday is only a clearly editable example.

Can every weekday be nonworking?

Interval counting can return zero. Moving by a nonzero number of business days requires at least one working weekday, so that case is rejected.

What are the limits?

Dates use years 0001–9999. Holiday input is limited to 1,000 entries, and addition or subtraction to 100,000 business days. Results outside the supported date range are rejected.
