Examples

London and New York

Choose Europe/London and America/New_York rather than assuming a permanent fixed-hour difference. Their daylight saving transition dates do not always match.

A half-hour offset

Asia/Kolkata displays a UTC offset of GMT+5:30. Offsets are not restricted to whole hours, so compare the displayed minutes as well as the hour.

Why region identifiers help

A name such as America/New_York identifies a region’s time rules, while a fixed UTC offset identifies only an offset. The selected region determines the current date and daylight saving offset using browser time-zone data.

Read the date before calling

Two places can show similar clock times on different calendar dates. Each card includes a full local date to make midnight crossings visible. The downloaded snapshot also includes a UTC timestamp for its capture instant.

Where the time comes from

The live instant comes from the device clock and is formatted separately for each zone. The tool does not contact a time service, verify your device clock, or independently distribute an up-to-date time-zone database.

What to know

  • Up to 12 selected clocks; selections reset when the page is refreshed.
  • Device clock errors and outdated browser time-zone data affect displayed results.

Common questions

Is this a complete list of places?

The suggestions are a short convenience list. You can type any IANA time-zone identifier that your browser accepts.

Will offsets change automatically?

The date formatting uses the zone’s offset at the displayed instant. It updates according to the time-zone rules available in your browser.

Can I compare a future meeting?

Use the meeting planner for a selected future date and local availability. This page shows the current instant only.
