Photo Contact Sheet

Turn a set of photos into one visual index. Set the grid columns, thumbnail dimensions, spacing, and filename labels, then download a single image for review or reference. Choose between showing each whole photo and filling each cell with a centered crop.

Source images

Up to 24 images, 20 MB per file, 24 megapixels per image; 60 MB and 48 megapixels per batch. SVG is not accepted. GIF and animated formats export as still images.

Contact sheets accept up to 24 photos. The grid follows your file selection order. Names are shortened to fit their cells; full names stay in the source list.

Build a photo index

A 3-column grid with 400 × 300 cells is a useful starting point. Exports are a single raster image, up to 32 megapixels / 64 MB. This is a visual index, not a full-resolution photo archive.

Selected files are processed in your browser. This tool does not upload image bytes or fetch remote image URLs. Clear the tool to release its local image previews.

How to use the Photo Contact Sheet

  1. 01

Select up to 24 photos in the order you want them to appear.

  2. 02

Choose one to six columns and set the cell width and height.

  3. 03

Adjust page margins, gaps, fit mode, background, and filename labels.

  4. 04

Create the contact sheet, review the preview, and download the finished image.

Examples

A nine-photo review sheet

Choose three columns with 400 × 300 cells, 24-pixel margins, 16-pixel gaps, and labels enabled. Nine photos produce a 1,280 × 1,076 sheet.

A mixed portrait and landscape archive

Use Fit entire photo to preserve each complete image inside its cell. Empty space uses the selected page background, and numbered filename labels make the photos easier to reference.

How the grid is sized

Rows equal the photo count divided by the column count, rounded up. Width includes both outer margins, every cell, and the gaps between columns. Labels add 32 pixels beneath each thumbnail. The last row can contain empty cells.

Fit or fill

Fit preserves the whole image and may leave empty space. Fill enlarges the image just enough to cover the cell, then crops from the center. Neither mode changes the source files. Thumbnails can be enlarged in the sheet, so choose cell sizes appropriate for the source resolution.

A visual index, not an archive

The export is one flattened raster image. It does not contain separate original photo files, editable labels, or searchable metadata. Keep source files separately. Numbered labels use the supplied filename and shorten long names with an ellipsis to fit the available width.

What to know

  • Up to 24 files, 24 megapixels each, 48 megapixels total decoded source pixels, and 60 MB total source file size.
  • Maximum sheet: 32 megapixels; no page splitting, drag reordering, or PDF export.
  • Image editing accepts raster files up to 20 MB and 24 megapixels each, with 60 MB and 48 megapixels total source limits.
  • Canvas output is limited to 16,384 pixels per edge and 32 megapixels per image; browser memory limits can be lower.
  • Newly encoded exports are still images. Metadata and color-profile retention are not guaranteed.

Common questions

Can I reorder the photos?

The grid follows the browser-provided selection order. Reselect files in the desired order; this version does not have drag reordering.

Can I print the sheet?

Yes, download the raster image and print it from an image viewer. Physical print dimensions depend on the print settings; this tool controls pixels rather than paper size or printer DPI.

Can I export a PDF?

This tool exports PNG, JPEG, or browser-supported WebP. Use a print-to-PDF workflow if you need a PDF document.

Why did a large batch fail?

The tool limits individual file size, total file bytes, decoded pixels, and output pixels. A large photo collection can hit a pixel limit before reaching 24 files; choose fewer or smaller source images.
