Decision Wheel

Turn a short list of choices into an equal-chance wheel. The numbered sectors correspond to the option key, and the selected option appears in plain text after the spin. Animation is optional and respects your system’s reduced-motion preference.

How to use the Decision Wheel

  1. 01

Enter 2–40 unique options, one per line. Blank lines are ignored.

  2. 02

Choose whether to animate, then spin. Every option receives one equal-size sector and equal probability.

  3. 03

Read the selected text, inspect the option key, or export recent selections. Reset restores the example list.

Examples

Choose an activity

Enter four activities such as reading, walking, cooking, and playing a game. Each receives a one-in-four chance on every spin.

Choose again from the same list

Spin multiple times without changing the options. Choices remain on the wheel, so an earlier winner can win again.

A visible wheel with a separate text result

Sector numbers match the ordered option key. The pointer finishes at the middle of the selected sector. The large text result is the authoritative selection, including when animation is disabled or screen-reader output is used.

Unique options keep the odds clear

Leading and trailing whitespace is removed. Duplicate options, including duplicates that differ only by case, are rejected. This wheel does not support weighted choices. To compare two similar alternatives, give them distinct descriptive labels.

Motion and repeated draws

Turning off animation gives an immediate result. A system preference for reduced motion also skips the transition. Each spin independently selects from the whole list; options are not eliminated. The tool retains at most ten recent selections for copy or download.

Common questions

Can I make one option more likely?

This version uses equal weights only and rejects duplicate labels. It does not offer custom probabilities.

Can I edit the list during a spin?

The list is disabled during the brief animated spin, keeping the result tied to the displayed sectors.

Does the animation generate the answer?

No. A crypto-random index is selected first, then the wheel rotates to that sector.

Can I use it without motion?

Yes. Uncheck Animate the wheel or enable reduced motion in your device settings.
